Whyalla Hip Hop School held their first lessons on the 30th January 2012 and will train their unbelievably talented students in preparation for their annual performance held in December.
In 2012 there will be three students who have attained Dance Teacher positions and including Cateline Smith, Paige Versteegh and assisting Brigitte with the under four class is Kirsty Meredith.
Kirsty Meredith on Facebook said she had “fun teaching the little kids, but was a little embarrassed with the parents watching”.
The cost for attending the Whyalla Hip Hop School is seventy dollars per one hour lesson and eighty dollars per one and a half hour lesson with ten dollars taken off the price for each additional class taken.
“Cateline Smith choreographs and performs her own solos” Brigitte Pryor said.
Other than performing at their annual performance the Whyalla Hip Hop School have performed at other events including the Whyalla Show.
Not only is performing at the Whyalla Show a great publicity stunt for the dance school Brigitte Pryor said that dancing at the show will “allow the students the opportunity to perform, build on their performance skills, improve their confidence, self esteem and use facial expressions and energy to entertain a crowd.”
Brigitte Pryor opened the school to offer students a chance to improve their fitness, coordination, memory, confidence and self esteem.
“It gives us the drive to achieve and feel confident” she said.
The dances are choreographed by Brigitte Pryor Cateline Smith and Paige Versteegh.
Dance is Brigitte’s passion and life and she believes that dance inspires people to aim high and believe in themselves.
As a result of attending genres such as Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical and Funk Tap classes the students will be empowered by developing their physical, intellectual, artistic, social and individual skills.
The Whyalla Hip Hop Dance School was founded in 2010 to provide students with quality dance tutoring and a friendly and supportive environment where students and parents can feel a part of the team.
In 2011 there were 230 students enrolled at the Whyalla Hip Hop Dance School with a possibility the school might grow.
