Dance Your Way to Team Spirit!

Corporate team-building activities can sometimes be dull. We have to sit through long, cliché speeches about unity and team spirit. This is usually followed by group activities that are more exhausting than inspiring. As a result, employees leave the event feeling more discouraged than uplifted. To break the boring tradition of such meaningless corporate gatherings, one should try a more youthful approach when organising team building events. Dancing is the perfect way to invigorate and excite stressed out employees. Since it is a physical activity, no one will be sitting around and getting bored to tears.

First, everyone must take a vote on the kind of dance they want to learn. Once it has been decided, the next step is to book a large venue for the event. It could be an open outdoor space, a hotel ballroom, or a dance studio. Finally, hire a professional choreographer or even a group of dance experts to give lessons to employees. Having a professional choreographer will make everyone feel that they are on the same level of dancing ability. No one will feel intimidated or shy to join in since everyone is learning a new dance at the same time. Pretty soon everyone will be laughing and getting over their initial feelings of awkwardness.

To make the event even more exciting, divide employees into groups and have them choreograph their own one-minute dance routines. After giving them ample time to practice their moves, have each team perform their dance steps in front of employees and judges. The winning team should get a nice prize. Group dancing is not only a healthy physical activity; it also presents an opportunity for employees to feel a sense of belongingness and to create wonderful memories together.
